Suits 2x10 )

Fangirl Friday last night was great. Politics, hockey, comics and lots of excellent travel advice. <3 you guys.

Not a lot planned this weekend except dinner with my friend tonight. Although I am going to need to leave the house to find breakfast at some point. My pantry is a little bare.

But first I can see me losing some time to Tumblr. Suits summer finale, Jeff Carter's day with the Cup ...

EDIT: I meant to include VVC recs! (so I can close some tabs)

It's All Coming Back to Me Now by [personal profile] trelkez. (Captain America comics, Steve/Bucky)

I am pretty new to Cap comics but I did love this. All the feelings. (And yes it is a vid to the Celine Dion song).

Lateralus by [ profile] rhoboat (Fringe)

The visuals in this and the way it's tied together is just stunning.

Girl in the War by [ profile] amnisias (Justified, Loretta)

Loretta vid! And to a great Josh Ritter song too.

How I Got Over by [personal profile] heresluck (The Wire, S4)

Just stunning S4 vid. The song choice is perfect and oh god, it brought back the season all over again. So well done.

So, I had the best of intentions of going home after work and cooking myself a healthy dinner and doing things like applying for jobs. What I actually did was have a couple of beers and curry (It had vegetables in my defence) with friends and came home and played around on the internet. Yeah. It's not that surprising.

I did however get some potentially good news about a possible extension of my contract at work, which would be nice, but I am remaining cautious about the whole thing.

In my playing around on the internet I did come across some things I wanted to rec.

First, this awesome amazing Wire vid. Beautiful Struggle by [personal profile] sdwolfpup. It's a Carver vid to a Talib Kweli song and OMG I love it so much. It's just so amazingly done and Carver and Bodie and Randy! After watching it I was so disappointed that I don't own the show on DVD so I could re-watch some things. I loved Carver and his journey so much on the show and this vid really did it justice.

And then two H50 fics:

just your typical saturday (1030 words) by faviconsomehowunbroken

Wherein there is Steve and Danny and a cat and it's a little crack-y but also so in character and adorable. Adored it.

Wish You Were Here (535 words) by faviconimaginarycircus

Gorgeous Steve and Catherine scene with beautiful imagery and I really love them.

And there was some sort of Avengers trailer, which totally contributed to me arriving later to work this morning than I had intended.

Doctor Who: The End of Time Part 2 )

Ed Byrne is on Celebrity Mastermind! And he's answering on Star Trek movies. OMG. <3

Oh, and Yuletide reveal.

I wrote We ain't gotta dream no more for [ profile] nebula99. (The Wire, gen)
Before a murder, during a murder, after a murder.
Spoilers for the end of Season 3.

Rang the parents before and had a talk with them about the London thing. Both seemed happy for me, and Mum had mentioned in an email that Dad had been worried about me going this year, but after talking for a bit he said I seem to have everything under control. My Dad is very cautious by nature, so I was happier than I'd like to admit that he said that. Was really nice to chat to them actually. Looking forward to going down in a month for Dad's 50th.

The Wire continues to be awesome, especially the last three eps (3x08-3x10), I think Season Three is shaping up to my favourite season so far.

Brief thoughts through 3x10 Reinvention )

Now, one more before bed I think, before my flatmate catches me up, he's only a disc behind me at the moment.

Thought there was something else I meant to mention. Saw Wolverine (better than X3, but still not amazing), going to try and type up thoughts a little more formally, I think, just because I feel like it.

Oh, also seem to have developed a small NHL thing due to all the talk on Twitter and LJ. WTF Boston? Haven't got a team, but Ovie is damn cool and am already predisposed to not liking Sidney Crosby.

Not a lot to say, other than the Bones 4x22 was delightful from start to finish. Ridiculous but so, so funny. I adore them and am most tempted by the DVDs.

Have reached S3 of The Wire. Still awesome.

Am also pondering whether to leave the house in the rain. I do have a few things I'd like to do, and I have a book I need to read for my book club and my computer seems to be too much of a distraction for me to sit down and do it in the house. Sitting down with a coffee might be an idea.

Um, so I have a Dreamwidth account. I got offered one in the OpenID lottery today, which is pretty cool. After some dithering I'm [personal profile] aworldinside there too. I'm just playing around with it at the moment and checking out this whole cross-posting thing. I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing, but it's safe to say I'll be cross-posting for the moment. I've tried to pay attention to who is over there, but let me know if you're there, so I can follow you there too. :)

If I do get an extra invites (and I'm not sure if they're doing that or not) and someone wants one, just let me know.

Not much happening with me. Insane work week next week which will be loads of fun.

Mentioned to a couple of my flatmates that I have albeit decided I'm going to the UK and they were uh, surprised it was so soon and disbelieving I was going for a couple of years and quitting my job. I honestly don't see what's so odd about it, but hey. Economic situation maybe? (And I admit my timing could be better). Sadly, it also gave me a moment of 'oh, am I doing the right thing?' which is always fun. No, I have decided this damn it.

Anyway, sad news about Kings, but we all saw it coming. I must admit the last couple of eps haven't interested me as much as the ones at the beginning of the season, but I'm still keen enough to keep watching.

Still also going with The Wire. Season 2 not quite as good as S1, but still enjoying it a lot.

Today was supposed to be a day of Doing Things. Get up early, have breakfast, go for a walk, tidy room, ponder OE options etc. Up until nearly 2pm however it was the Day of Watching Season One of The Wire. (OMG, so awesome).

The Wire Season One )

However, I did eventually get out of the house. Got a coffee, read my book for a bit and then rocked on up to STA travel thinking I would at least talk to someone about my options. Ended up having an awesome travel agent who was super helpful and on some level I must have made up my mind, as I basically booked for mid July. It can still be moved, but I basically committed myself to going. Must now do Visa things.

I am both scared and excited. Shit.

Back to work tomorrow, but thankfully only for two days.

It's really been an awesome weekend. Watched DVDs Friday and Saturday night (Silence of the Lambs, 24 Hour Party People, Breach, Junebug - in order of preference from awesome to good, but not great), accompanied by a vegetarian feast on Saturday, and now going for a Sunday roast tonight.

And to keep with the food theme, I said I'd bring dessert tonight, and I decided to have a go at the recipie [ profile] labellementeuse posted aages ago and I saved in my memories. Cookies and cream cupcakes! And, they turned out really well! I hardly have mad baking skillz, but these might be the best thing I've baked. There are photos here. (I am growing quite fond of the macro setting on my camera). My icing skills could use some work though.

Should have done OE planning, but um, yes, this week, definitely. *nods*

BSG: Someone to Watch Over Me )

I also have got my little hands on the first couple discs of The Wire S1. I've watched 3 eps and I'm really enjoying it so far.
