Hi!

Thank you so much for offering to write one of these awesome pairings. <3

To give you a broad picture of what I like in fic: I like fluffy and happy endings, but also love fics with bittersweet and open ended ones too.

Random other things I like: Banter, snark, competence, people finishing each others sentences and knowing each other's looks, backstory and pining.

Things I don't like so much: non-con, heavy BDSM, humiliation, embarrassment or otherwise intelligent characters acting stupid for no reason at all.

If you want to make these fics full of hockey details, I'm cool with it, or if you want to set it more away from the rink that's cool too. I am absolutely fine with AUs. Canon divergent or something else.

If you want more clues about what I like, you can check out my Tumblr - there is uh a fair bit of hockey stuff there.

As for more specific details:

Justin Williams/Willie Mitchell )

Tyler Toffoli/Tanner Pearson/Martin Jones )

Jeff Carter/Jonathan Quick )

Obviously these are all Kings prompts and I am a Kings fan. I am happy for any random Kings to turn up but uh, please no Drew Doughty.

Thank you so much. <333

Cheers,

Tonight's episode of Justified was so good.

Spoilers )

And late last week there was this:

Suits 2x16 )

Now I will probably go fall asleep in front of the same House of Cards episode I've fallen asleep during twice before. It's not that the show is bad, it just requires a level of awake attention I don't really have in me.

Other than TV, I've been all hockey, hockey, hockey really. Have developed more Rangers and Ryan Callahan feelings in time for them to really suck, even though holy hell Ryan was insane today in the second period. He was blocking shots and taking hits without a stick because he'd broken it earlier in the shift! Other people would get a new one, but no not Ryan I-will-put-my-body-on-the-line-for-fucking-anything Callahan. <33 There needs to be more Ryan/Dan Girardi fic, fandom. Get on that.

And the Canes continue to be delightful even though I haven't made myself watch the highlights of today's game because it just sounds awful. I love how they've embraced Alex Semin into their crazy hockey family and how well him and EStaal have been working together.

As for my third team, the Kings. Things are improving and I still have far more feelings than I comfortable with about Jeff Carter. Far more. I mean due to Backhand Shelf (hockey podcast) I was composing a Carts/Richie vid to Kelly Clarkson songs the other day! Fuck my life.

I still love MvsW as a hockey podcast, I do but I must admit to a small tiny crush on Justin Bourne and his pigtail-pulling relationship with Jake is pretty delightful.
aworldinside: (Harvey's face)
Good things that happened today:

  • Achieved things at work

  • Canes won with Jeff Skinner goals and an Eric Staal hat-trick! <33

  • Jeff Carter got a goal (good for my hockey fantasy team, and well my Jeff Carter feelings have returned)

  • Andrew Ference was interviewed on MvsW (hockey podcast) and was pretty great

  • I watched the end of S5 of Fringe with [personal profile] labellementeuse. I might type up more comprehensive thoughts later but there were lots of feelings and on the whole I thought they did a good job. The show was a big part of my fandom life for a while and I will miss it on some level.

  • Parks and Rec had a pretty cute episode

  • This Suits episode happened. I sort of want to make out with whoever wrote this episode )

See New York Rangers, if only you'd won as well it would have been perfect. ;)
aworldinside: (Skinner Staal)
Skyfall (spoilery like woah )

And now I sort of want to write a Suits Spy AU BUT I suck at action scenes and get bored reading them let alone writing them and I really need to think about Yuletide.

Sad about Last Resort. Haven't got around to watching the latest ep but might do later tonight. It was a good show even if the last episode (I saw) was a little shaky, but at least they have enough notice to try and tie it up. A show needs to hire Andre Braugher. Someone on Twitter suggested Justified and my god, I would be so happy. *_*

I have however watched the latest episode of The Good Wife )

In hockey fannishness I have found myself becoming more and more endeared towards Mr. Seguin recently and may have read all the Tyler/Tyler fic (his 'wife' - his words, not joking - is also called Tyler) on AO3 in one sitting. To be fair, there isn't that much, but there should be more!
aworldinside: (Carter Richards)
Just a quick note to say stay safe to people on the East Coast. Hopefully it's not as bad as everyone's predicted and you stay dry and powered. xx

Also um, Homeland's really, really good.

And I seem to have rediscovered hockey feelings. I blame catching up on MvsW.

Hockey things:

1.[livejournal.com profile] puckling has posted an awesome Tazer pic/gifspam. (I have realiesd that Mr Toews and I share a habit: I totally pull judgy unimpressed looks in photos as well, even when I'm having a good time. Maybe he's having a good time. Maybe he just doesn't like photos ... no he's probably just judgy :p)

2. And here's a fic where Carts and Ritchie are telepathic. I can't believe this didn't exist before now ...

On Sunday I was achieving things until about 2pm when I fell down a Harvey and Donna feelings hole on Tumblr and never recovered … yeah I don’t know either. Stupid S2 and their stupid faces. I need hockey to come back and distract me.

blah blah feelings )

Seriously Season 2, this is all your fault. I was not prepared for this!

The little snippets I'm hearing about the summer finale has me all '!!!' too.

Talking of hockey, Marek and Wysh were back (and geeky and talking a lot about London), and I might actually be legitimately disappointed if Mike Richards doesn’t turn up in Jeff Carter’s ‘day with the Cup’ photos or vice-versa. I do find the fact he did actually give the Cup at lifejacket pretty adorable though.

And to relate these two topics! Because I can, watch me. There might be some words in a GDocs near you where Donna is a Rangers fan and her and Harvey discuss what a good/hot goalie Hank is? You know, MAYBE because this is apparently what my brain does now.

I blame Sarah Rafferty and her tweets with Michael Del Zotto.

I also just saw posts with VividCon recs on my flist. Oh dear. There goes my evening. Heresluck made a Wire vid? *squeak*

But I will apply for that job first. I will. Already applied for one today and I have an interview on Thursday, which is a good thing. Would love to have something sorted before I go to Europe ... which is in three weeks today! \o/

Okay, lies I watched this Tony vid (which I don't think is technically a VVC vid so shush) because it's set to a cover of maybe my favourite Radiohead song and well ... Tony. All my Tony feelings. It's a really great vid.

And if you haven't seen it yet there's an Avengers gag reel out and it's pretty great.
aworldinside: (Harvey's face)
I participated in [livejournal.com profile] sixteenwins this year and as my picks were not quite as awesome as they could have been I had to make a Claude Giroux/Danny Briere (or Brioux) mix for [livejournal.com profile] andthenextday. The mix with lyrics and brief commentary (it was posted at 1am so it’s pretty brief) is at the comm.

However, the zip file is here if anyone wants to DL – even if you don't know anything about the pairing it has some good songs. (96MB).

Tracklist if you're curious )

Job: eh
Wine drank this evening: perhaps more than I should have.
Suits feelings level: high. seriously high. Why do I watch sneak peeks?
Time to the UK/Europe trip: 4 weeks!

I also caught up on The Slash Report while at work yesterday. Yeah … that was an interesting choice. Who knows what sort of facial expression I was pulling in the elevator on the way out the door, or in the biscuit aisle of the supermarket. (I was listening to the 50/50 tropes ep by the time I was in the supermarket, and if anyone is familiar it was THAT discussion near the end. *shudders *).

I need to go through the VVC vids but I have seen [personal profile] china_shop's Ben/Leslie vid and it's delightful. <3

I had a job interview today (for a job I actually want even) and I think it went okay? But it's hard to tell? I won't hear back till Monday, so in the meantime I keep applying and hoping. Ugh.

I didn't talk about the Jordan Staal trade on here but just assume there were a lot of feelings, okay?

UFA season is interesting. Zach Parise and Ryan Suter better have made decisions when I wake up.

This gif is amusing the hell out of me. Cam Ward, what is your face?
aworldinside: (Red profile)
It was such a lazy weekend. I saw Prometheus (pretty, well-acted but eh) and then .. watched all of the Suits episodes. The Tumblr gifs got to me.

Thoughts, feelings through to 2x01 - not especially coherent )

So um yeah, I have a show for the US Summer. Yay.

--

Legend of Korra 1x10 )

I also bought myself the tie-in Avatar comics tonight because I had a book voucher to reduce the price, the wiki made me curious, and ... Zuko. And all the rest of their ridiculous faces.

--

Songs I considered making a hockey fanvid to while sitting at my desk today trying to understand InDesign:

  • Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance (my love for this song owes a lot to a pretty great F1 montage made to it and honestly how is there not a Kings vid to this already?)

  • Hot Mess - Cobra Starship (fandom's relationship with failing-at-life hockey players? Or god Carts and Ritchie - but it would have to be a very cut down version of the song)

  • Hell of a Season - The Black Keys (C/R - don't think this is uptempo enough though)

  • Circus - Britney Spears (because it amuses me)

... this says interesting things about my musical taste but whatever.

Why do I talk about these things? Totally not going to happen. I lack the attention span. I'm also wary of blatantly 'shippy RPS vids and the internet. (Subtle ones ... to be honest, with Carts and Ritchie, I haven't seen a Kings-related montage yet that hasn't alluded to their BFF-ness).
aworldinside: (Carter Richards)
Barring the awesomeness that was the Los Angeles Kings winning the Stanley Cup on Tuesday, this whole week can take a running jump. I even had job interviews that went okay(ish) and still, blah blah. I feel stupid and incapable, and I don't know what I want to do, and work is stupid (and only for the next two weeks) and I’m questioning everything. Blah.

So eloquent.

And I know people have had far more difficult weeks that that, so *big hugs* to anyone who needs one. <3

Today at work I had pictures of the LA Kings taking the Stanley Cup to Dodger Stadium open in a few tabs to cheer me up. (see what has happened here?) Jeff Carter, has your hair always been that blonde? Or is the absence of the beard drawing my attention back to it? Or is just the lighting in this photo?

I went back and read the Carter/Richards primer yesterday and … seriously. Because it now ends LOL AND THEN THEY WON A STANLEY CUP TOGETHER. Because life works like that for them apparently. I also did not realise that people from Columbus (incl. Rick Nash) having to effectively drag Jeff Carter out of his beach house was freaking canon. JFC boys. What are your lives? Anyway, I was ridiculously happy for their ridiculous faces and the rest of the Kings and their adorable small humans who took-over press conferences and drank chocolate milk out of the Stanley cup in Spiderman outfits.(asfjhkagl)

You should read this fic about them getting drunkenly married. It’s beautiful. And the AO3 link should be nice and speedy. Oh, filters, you were so pesky. (big changes to search and browse coming to make them …less pesky). Much love to the coders/systems people who worked to speed everything back up. <3

... I meant to go to bed earlier. But Friday tomorrow. I'm not predicting much different for my Friday night tbh. Saturday, I'm seeing Prometheus.

(Also finally got a hockey icon. I had to with this picture. Arnold needs to be pictured with the cup, or they both need to sleep in a bed with it ... or something. The fic ideas are endless. Let's no get into the one about how they lost the playoff beards).
aworldinside: (incredulous danny)
I watched the Kings/Devils game today with [personal profile] labellementeuse and [livejournal.com profile] deepbluemermaid and the following things may have been said:

  • "Did Mike Richards just tumble over the boards into Jeff Carter's lap?" (I don't think that was Carts in retrospect but it looked like him at the time).

  • "Guys this is really not the time to be ... oh of course it's Ritchie."

  • "How can you make that save, Marty?! You're 40!"

  • "Fuck you, Zach Parise. Fuck. You." (x1000)

and eventually:

  • "Fuck you, Marty." (I felt kinda bad because the man is a legend but Marty Brodeur you have two Olympic gold medals and three Stanley Cup rings ... stop being greedy. Yes, I'm so very rational about this).

Oh, Kings. I admit I'm bandwagoning them but I now really, really want this for them and they're making it so hard on themselves and Tuesday at work is now going to be incredibly stressful for no work-related reason at all.

While I was always going to be cheering for them, I must admit that the Kings feelings have been helped along by quite a few feelings about Jeff Carter (and Mike Richards to a slightly lesser extent). Yes, I did read Ballad of a Broken Bromance recently, how did you guess? I've kind of fallen for them. Hard.

Look at his reunited with Ritchie smile! - I still have this gif-set open in a tab right now. (the original interview is on YT here).

I also listened to him on Cabbie's podcast where he was pretty endearing ("tks bud" - pretty much all his text messages, and he can apparently cook and he cooks for Ritchie!) Even if a lot of Cabbie's podcasts seem to involve him trying to get laid via knowing various members of the Los Angeles Kings.

Anyway, I'm done. Really.

(Still have a lot of Eric/Jeff, Eric/Cam, Eric/Jeff/Cam feelings too and Scott Hartnell and Jordan Eberle are also quite endearing ... fuck you, hockey).

Other things!

I have been rewatching bits of Generation Kill and oh, feelings. Especially Brad feelings and I forogt how many times him and Nate just staaare at each other. Also, ASkars is pretty. This better not lead to me catching-up on True Blood because no. No. You're not that pretty Alexander. (Considering my recent celebrity crushes, I seem to have a thing for guys called Alex ... and really tall blond people. It all comes back to ASkars apparently IDK).

I also spent last weekend weekend going through the GK tag on my pinboard and reading allll the fic, including this awesome frat AU Bright College Years and I forgot that Brad played hockey in it. I mean, it's mentioned in passing, but hockey. I am that easy. Yes.

... yeah okay not so much other things.

Back to hockey!

Have some pictures of hockey players and some GIFs - Eric, Cam, Jeff (Skinner not Carter), Hank, Sharpy within )

Other things (really this time)!

Summary:

Regency AU. When Andrew Garfield, the new Earl of Epsom, returns from the Peninsula War to find his ancestral home mortgaged to the hilt, he must marry Jesse Eisenberg, his parents’ mysterious ward, in order to save his family from ruin.

I was also planning to go on about how apparently it was my 10-year LJ-anniversary in April. Yep, totally missed it. It led to me looking at my old journal which, wow. Yeah. I mentioned RL stuff a lot more. A lot more. Also I uh apparently wrote Remus/Bill. Who knew? Anyway, any deeper thoughts I've had have been chased away by hockey.

I meant to discuss Euro too bust mostly my reaction is WTF Netherlands? I first got into football via France 1998 and watching them play so I still have bit of a soft-spot for them even if they played dickishly in the World Cup final in 2010. Denmark, dudes?

Today was fine. I've moved to a new floor, which is actually kinda cool and the day went fast. Booked myself for a eye test too, because I'm wondering if the headaches I've been getting a lot recently are sight related. Eep?

Also I uh, may have bought myself some new boots on my way home, which to be fair I did need because my current pair of boots are dying, and these were on sale, proper leather and have a good sole. Still, more money than I possibly should have spent.

Game of Thrones 2x07 )

Hockey returned! Yay Rangers. :D Great to see the Kings hold on today too. Don't think this will be as easy a series and their other ones, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

I have Korra episodes! This is exciting! Now all the tumblr gifs I see will make more sense. ;)

I also found this article about the shows the networks have picked up for next season interesting. Not a hell of a lot I'm really keen to see, but some interesting ones ("The Last Resort" especially and I'll probably at least check out the new Matthew Perry comedy). Also, unlikely Lori and Gaby will be making an appearance on H50 next season - both actresses are in new shows. Unless they get quickly cancelled I guess - which I wouldn't wish for either Autumn or Lauren. Happy to see Dichen Lachman in a picked up pilot too.

No hockey for two days, what is this strange world. Nervous about tomorrow morning. Hope the Rangers can pull it off, even though I would feel for the Caps.

Random Alex O'Loughlin pic: he's quite distracting. He's now shaven off the fauxhawk, which makes me a little sad. He's rocking it here, and it would have been awesome to see him show up the UpFronts with it.

It's been a weird week. I've felt unmotivated and blah, and I've also been getting recruitment calls, which is not a bad thing but they're offering to put my name forward for jobs that fit the long-term-slash-help-pay-for-my-trip-to-the-UK criteria but not the in-any-way-advancing-my-career criteria. I spent 2 years overseas doing blah-ish temp admin jobs and I'm over it tbh, but then .... what do I want to do for a job anyway? And fuck do I need to go back and study something? And then I feel guilty because I should feel grateful I'm in a position where I can get a job and yes, blah. Blah, I say.

Vent over.

TV! Hockey! Other distracting things!

Hockey:

I couldn't concentrate on much this afternoon with the truly ridiculous triple fucking overtime Rangers/Caps game going on. Really happy for the Rangers (Gaborik! Some form!) but hard not to feel for the Caps as well. Braden Holtby is a rock-star.

Hope the Flyers can come back motivated tomorrow after losing so badly to the Devils.

I have seen clips, but last night it came to my attention that someone had put the entire NHL 2011 All Star Game Fantasy Draft on YouTube.

Lots of heart-eyes. Lots. They're ridiculous people, and while I knew it happened it was great to watch the whole show and see how it really was everytime someone was picked by Team Lindstrom who wasn't Tazer they'd go for a reaction shot. Amazing. Staals and Patrick Sharp continue to charm me (as sort of does Rick Nash), and lol Ovie taking a picture of Phil Kessel being the last one picked. Also this is far, far from an original thought but holy fuck, Jeff Skinner's smile. Nope. I don't need reminding how old he is. I know. I know.

I open three tabs when I sit down at my desk at the moment. They are GMail, Twitter and ... nhl.com. I have also listened to the Marek vs Wyshynski daily podcast pretty much every morning. Yeah.

I am used to being a sports fan, but playoff hockey is something else. I am not used to this whole seven-game-series, games-everyday thing and it's ... something. Something quite stressful. I filled in a bracket as part of [livejournal.com profile] sixteenwins, and I was going okay in the Eastern Conference but failing in the Western Conference ... until today, when the Eastern Conference was full of fail (I really expected the Rangers to win, and let's not get into the Pens scoring 10 goals - even though I was happy for JStaal) but Vancouver actually won a game! (I actually am fairly indifferent about Canucks/Kings but my bracket would prefer the Canucks).

So yeah, still with the hockey thing.

Game of Thrones 2x03 - contains future spoilers )

Haven't got to Mad Men, or last week's Community. I did watch The Good Wife which I found just okay, but I am very interested to see where everything is going.

I also probably had Fringe thoughts, but it's been a while since the episode. Overall, I liked it quite a lot.

I haven't done this ages:

Music meme!

1. If you'd like to play along, reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. You then list at least five songs that start with that letter.
3. Then, as I'm doing here, you'll post the list to your journal with the instructions.

[personal profile] musesfool gave me the letter C.

The Animaniacs - Countries of the World - I just had to when I got this letter. It's out of date now but it's so well done. Norway, Finland, Iceland, Sweeden ... Algeria, Ghana!

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert - Can I Interest You in Hannukah? -Jon and Stephen sing about holidays. We have dreidels/ What are they? / Wooden tops. We have candles/ What are they? /THEY ARE CANDLES! And when we light them, oh the fun it never stops.

The Arrogant Worms - Canada is Really Big - because I am all about comedy songs tonight apparently. We're the second biggest country, and if Russia keeps shrinking, soon we will be first.

The Gaslight Anthem - Casanova, Baby! - I think I can blame [livejournal.com profile] tangleofthorns for the number of TGA songs I have. I like them a lot. They have an Springsteen-ish feel but with a little more rock, maybe? This song has great drum beat and great lyrics. We could run all night / And dance upon the architecture / Come and take my hand /I'll do the very best I can.

Colin Meloy - Cupid (Sam Cooke Cover) - Choosing this song might go hand in hand with compiling this list at 1am. Anyway, I go through stages with Colin Meloy's voice but this is such a good cover.

Janelle Monae - Cold War - catchy, nice beat and I'll be honest, I like the fact that the title reminds me of history. This is a cold war / do you know what you're fighting for?

The Puppini Sisters - Crazy in Love (Beyonce Cover) (The Tuesday Weld Remix) - I have no idea how this ended up in my iTunes but I've become really fond of it. It's a remix of a Beyonce cover and it's got a old-school feel (Wikipedia describes The Puppini Sisters as a close-harmony trio), but danced up a little bit. Catchy as hell.

James Blake - CMYK - I love songs which sample other songs well, and this song is full of bits of different sounds and samples layered over the top of each other. Look I found her / in a red coat / look I found her.

-

I am awfully tempted to mainline Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America this weekend in preparation for the Avengers release on Wednesday. Midnight screening. \o/

Oreos are on special at the supermarket this week. I don't want to talk about how many packets I've bought. *shakes head at self* I also believe that being temporarily employed is making it worse, as it means I'm walking past the supermarket nearly everyday.

What self-discipline?
aworldinside: (Red profile)
I had a job interview today. I think it went okay. For someone who is a pretty anxious person by nature, I don't get that nervous in job interviews, but as soon as I walk out I start second-guessing everything. It is a job I am very qualified for but I don't know what the competition is like and I said a few weird things. Ugh. I don't know. I'd really quite like the job though, and it's a permanent job. Having one of those again would be novel.

However, if I don't get it, I have an interview next Wednesday for another job. So, things could be worse, I guess. At least I'm getting interviews.

I also made these cookies today. I don't have the best record as far as cookies are concerned, but these turned out really nicely and are quite tasty. Chopping up chocolate pieces worked really well too as they stayed sort of melt-y in the middle for ages. Nom.

I uh may have had a few more than was good for me though because just a tiiiny bit hyped up on sugar right now.

In fandom news, Game of Thrones is back!

Game of Thrones 2x01 - I have read up to the end of AFFC but I'll try to stop myself getting too book spoilery )

Fringe was better this week, but I am at the point where if it stopped at the end of S4, I would be okay with that. I'm still enjoying it don't get me wrong, but not as much as I was and yeah, I'd be okay with that.

I am also up to date with Mad Men, but I don't have a lot to say other than I'm mostly enjoying it. Peggy <3

And I started watching Avatar: the Last Airbender with [livejournal.com profile] gnine last weekend. It's so good. Sokka is my favourite so far, but Zuko is intriguing and Katara is made of awesome.

There's also hockey. Of course.

I keep having Staal thoughts and Staal theories. Eric = troll!Staal. Marc = sensible!Staal (well as sensible as a pro hockey player can be). Jordan = bro!Staal. Jared = Staal Not Appearing in this NHL. This makes sense when you consider which two Staals got arrested during Eric's bachelor party, and well, this video. Troll!Stall and Bro!Stall trolling everyone and calling Patrick Kane a midget and circling him like sharks around a hobbit (how's that for a mental image? Wring-wraiths around a hobbit maybe?) and generally finding themselves hilarious. I for one find it delightful, but I am not objective.

Also, the Philadelphia/Pittsburgh fight was insane. I'm torn between wanting to see them play each other in the playoffs and thinking that it would be an incredibly bad idea. I'm not a huge of fan of either team, but Claude Giroux is adorable and ginger.

I need to pick teams to follow in the playoffs too, because oh, Carolina. (Yes, I hear you, Hawks and Bruins people. We'll see. We'll see).

Random other things:

1.Gyzym's guide to reading the Discworld books is really awesome. It also made me curious why I haven't read Thief of Time - I really should have.

2. The Newroom trailer - but I guess if you have any interest you've probably seen this by now. I'm cautiously optimistic, but then I also liked the pilot for Studio 60.

3. Bad Opinions from History Generator.

Also, note to the Carolina Hurricanes: Columbus?! You beat Florida but lose by 4 to Columbus?!

I did a March Madness bracket again this year and it was going okay (I was ranked 3rd in a bracket group organised by Pajiba - a pop culture blog I read) but alas not so much today. However the two finalists I picked are still there, so fingers crossed. I did pick UConn correctly last year.

I was supposed to be doing productive things this evening, but instead I ended up at my friend's house watching a S1 episode of ST:TNG. I cannot quite believe they did the, 'oh look a mysterious thing is making us all feel drunk and lustful' quite that early on its run, I mean it was like the 3rd episode of the whole show! Of course now I sort of want to re-watch TNG but OMG self not the time. Too many other things.

I did however pick up some UK candy my friend found for me (MiniEggs!) and got my passport renewal form signed, so that's something in the productive and deliciousness columns.

In other news, the hockey thing rolls on. I spent a lot of weekend watching hockey videos, and I have become invested in whether the Hurricanes make the play-offs. (They won today! And Eric scored twice!) I still don't quite get fandom's obsession with Crosby and Kaner though - or okay, I do get it, but I don't share it

You know how sometimes you're just ready for a new fandom? This is totally what happened here.

To top off a sports fan weekend, I went to watch the Australian GP at a sports bar since so few of them are on at a convenient time in NZ, and Jenson won! And he and Seb were adorable afterwards! All the hugs.

I have accepted the fact that Seb is my #2 driver - sorry Lewis, it was never going to happen.

I am still quite awake. It was probably the energy drinks my work-mate bought to get us through our meeting this afternoon - after I'd already had two coffees - wasn't it? Yes. That was probably it.

Haha. Oh this was so predictable.

I seem to have developed a hockey thing. I have been enjoying reading alll the primers, and watching alll the YT clips. I love fandom-assisted learning. Jeff Skinner, what is your smile?! Eric Staal, why are you so tall, blonde and endearing? I am intrigued by many things. So many teams, so many ridiculous people.

Also, (because why not embrace all the sports fandoms at once?) why didn't someone tell me there was a West-Wing inspired Footballers-running-a-US-Senate-campaign fic! The District by [livejournal.com profile] dorkorific. (Xabi Alonso/Steven Gerrard, Iker Casillas, Cesc Fabregas and alll the footballer cameos you could want). It's just delightful. Truly delightful. I also have developed feelings about Xabi Alonso (he's like Liverpool's Thierry Henry). Fair warning: it's a WiP. But it's so goood. Also, guys, there is a Rahm cameo. Raahhhm.

No, no caffeine or sugar at all today, why do you ask? ;)

I wrote this in my last entry: In happier news, I am cautiously optimistic that my contract at work is being extended for a little while, but I really need to get on that permanent-job thing. Yeah ... not so much. There is still a chance, but it's pretty small. I have some money saved and I can always temp for a bit, but it still sucks. Hard. My next three weeks are going to be dominated by job-hunting. I can hardly contain my excitement.

So as always when I have important things to do in RL ... shiny new fandoms all around!

H50, I still love you. For the most part.

Fringe: Making Angels )

It's been a nice weekend; there's been fangirl catch-ups, I finally put together the collage of some of my postcards/tickets/etc from my overseas travels, I watched Mean Girls for the first time (yes I know, it took me long enough) which was hilarious and some internet memes are now making a lot more sense, and today was the Super Bowl, which was a pretty good, at-times-quite-stressful game. I was happy for the Giants, they deserved their win.

Also um, I just spent the last couple of hours reading Hockey RPF. This runaway!Jeff Skinner fic in fact. Um, it was really good, you guys and I kind of want to know many more things about Eric Staal (other than the fact that he's the captain/older brother figure and he's younger than me). I feel this was slightly inevitable as I've always been tempted by hockey fandom, but I do also blame the fact that it was all over my flist when I caught up this afternoon. (Upside: hockey may distract me from caring too much about H50 ... don't look at me like that, I said may).

I am also starting a Babylon 5 re-watch/watch (I've seen a lot of it but there's holes in my viewing). I love Londo and G'Kar so much, and Ivanonva is all sort of awesome.

I feel there was something else I meant to put in this, but no doubt I won't remember until after I push the post button.
